A February analysis by the American Immigration Council will tell you everything you need to know about the policy substance of the so-called Bipartisan Border Act of 2024.
Tl;dr — the bill is “a mixed bag” of mostly restrictive immigration policies, plus expanded work permits, green card backlog relief, amnesty for Afghan war allies (yay!!), and an agonizing half-measure intended to benefit documented dreamers.
The bill is expected to fail on the Senate floor (hopefully forever) when Schumer files cloture sometime around 2pm ET. Watch this space.
